Jeep’s answer to a pickup truck, the Jeep Gladiator is essentially a pickup version of their popular Jeep Wrangler. Offering stellar off-road performance and quality construction inside and out, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator is a must-own vehicle for those in need of a more rugged and fun pickup.
2023 Jeep Gladiator Trims
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator can be customized to your specific needs, offering nine different trims to choose from. New this year is the Freedom edition which offers some pretty enticing upgrades for its price point.
Sport
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator Sport is the entry-level trim starting at $38,305. Featuring a 3.6-liter V6 engine, manual transmission and four-wheel drive, this vehicle offers some incredible performance. Generating 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, the base engine is the most powerful option that provides robust acceleration. On the downside, it offers the worst fuel economy, getting 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The difference with the automatic transmission is negligible.
Built for off-road performance, the vehicle also boasts solid front and rear axles, 17-inch steel wheels a two-speed transfer case, all-season tires and skid plates. Other than that, the vehicle is fairly light on standard features. You’ll get a basic 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, satellite radio, and Bluetooth, as well as an eight-speaker audio system. Its other features include halogen headlights and fog lights, towing hooks, and a hitch receiver.
When it comes to options at this trim level, these include small conveniences and accessibility modifications like side steps, a spray-in liner, an improved hitch and leather upholstery – just to name a few.
Willys Sport
The Willys Sport trim starts at $40,615, adding upgrades like 17-inch alloy wheels, 33-inch mud-terrain tires and rock rails and rear limited-slip differential. Most optional features are carried over from the base trim, except that this is the first trim that offers a more fuel-efficient 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 that gets 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
Sport S
The Sport S model, starting at $41,705, includes everything from the base trim along with 17-inch alloy wheels, a power locking tailgate, and power windows and locks. Further, it gives you keyless entry. Since these are basic features included in most cars, we would recommend starting at this trim level if you are considering the Gladiator.
Willys
The Willys trim starts at $45,750, combining all of the features of the Willys Sport and Sport S models.
It gives you plenty of options as well, put these will easily hike up the price. The infotainment system can be upgraded to an 8.4-inch model with navigation and HD radio. Interior upgrades include a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, automatic climate control and 120-volt household power outlet, among other things.
Freedom
New for 2023, the Freedom Edition starts at $47,000. This version comes with the regular V6 with automatic transmission. Everything included in the Sport S trim is standard but you’ll also get leather upholstery and a few other upgrades.
Next, a steel front bumper is standard instead of the plastic one, which also features mounts for a winch. Other standard features are LED headlights, rock-rails and all-terrain tires.
Most options carry over from the other trim levels.
Overland
The Overland gives you many of the features that are only options in the trim levels above. The Overland trim gives you standard 8.4-inch touch screen, navigation, HD radio, and nine-speaker audio. Furthermore, a 400-watt inverter, household power outlet, additional USB ports and automatic climate control come standard as well.
The Overland starts at $46,580.
Rubicon
Starting at $50,250, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon is a heavier duty version of the Gladiator. Locking front and rear differentials and heavy-duty shock absorbers come standard with this trim. Lastly, it also includes lower gearing, an electronic sway bar disconnect, 17-inch wheels, and 33-inch all-terrain tires.
Mojave
The Mojave also starts at $50,250. Its basically the same as the Rubicon except that it swaps the locking front differential and sway bar disconnect for taller suspension. Moreover, it is specially tuned for high-speed off-roading capability.
High Altitude
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator High Altitude is the cream of the crop starting at $54,080. The highest level trim includes everything from the Overland edition in addition to 20-inch wheels, side steps, LED headlights, and leather upholstery.
Standard driver assistance features included at this level are rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
But, if you want everything the Jeep Gladiator has to offer there are plenty of other optional features that still carry over from the other trim levels.
While short on features, the Jeep Gladiator is the perfect compact truck for those who enjoy roaming the outdoors. Not practical enough to service as work truck, the Gladiator is the pickup for people who care more about performance with some of the conveniences a pickup offers. If you don’t care about having a pickup, the Wrangler may be a better option for you.
