Along with choices in cabs, beds, and engines, you can choose a trim level that fits your needs. But should you go with the affordable WT or the top-tier High Country?
Choosing a Silverado 2500HD Trim
The 2024 Silverado 2500HD is offered in four different trim options with different-sized cabs and truckbeds available. Find the perfect truck for your needs and shop around for the best deals. Let’s take a look at the options available!
Cab and Engine Options
Chevrolet focuses on customization so your truck can handle a broad range of jobs. There are four options for the size and shape of your Silverado, two cab sizes paired with two box lengths. You can choose from a double cab with a standard or long box or a crew cab with a standard or long box. This will affect cost and performance, and not all cab options are available with all trims.
The Silverado 2500HD also comes with two main engine choices. The first is a 6.0-liter Variable Valve Timing V8 SFI engine that produces 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. The second is a Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo Diesel V8 engine, which, coupled with an Allison transmission, can put out 470 hp and an incredible 975 lb.-ft of torque. The Duramax engine may come with additional features for some trims. Additionally, all trims are available in two-wheel-drive, with the option to upgrade to four-wheel-drive.
When properly equipped with the standard rear axle, the 3500HD can tow up to 22,500 pounds.
WT
The 2024 Silverado 2500HD WT is the least expensive option at $43,400. This is the price of the two-wheel-drive crew cab with standard box and 6L VT V8 engine. The model includes 17-inch wheels, a locking tailgate, heavy-duty suspension, front recovery hooks, and cargo tie-downs. You’ll also get vertical exterior trailering mirrors to assist you with your towing needs.
Because the Silverado is used in the toughest of conditions, it also comes with great warranties. It includes a bumper-to-bumper limited warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles, as well as a corrosion warranty for the same duration. The corrosion warranty includes a warranty against rust-through for six years or 100,000 miles. The Silverado 2500HD also comes with a powertrain limited warranty for five years or 60,000 miles and roadside assistance with courtesy transportation for five years or 60,000 miles.
With the power and capabilities of this vehicle, you can forgive Chevy for not loading it down with extra features, This is definitely a base model. That said, it does include a two-speaker audio system with , power windows, single-zone climaste control, and a push-button ignition.
For regular cab models, there is also a standard 7-inch color infotainment touchscreen, two-speaker stereo, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and satellite radio.
On the safety front, the WT includes StabiliTrak, which is a stability control system with Proactive Roll Avoidance and traction control. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD WT also includes automatic high-beam headlights and a tire pressure monitor system. Other features included are driver assistance features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and a rear vision camera with Hitch Guidance.
It’s also worth noting that the vehicle’s rearview camera includes a hitch guide, making your hitch a cinch.
Custom
The Custom trim starts at $46,800. This trim is not available in the 3500HD, and is only available for double cab and crew cab models. A split-folding rear bench, cruise control, cabin carpeting and a rear air vent are standard with this unique trim.
This trim ups the truck’s off-road game with 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and LED signature headlights. It also offers cosmetic changes like glossy black bumpers, tinted glass and unique body styling elements.
LT
The LT starts at $47,400 for the two-wheel-drive crew cab with a standard box option. Since it has the same engine as the WT trim, the LT has all the same capabilities. That said, it does include more features than the trim below it. On the exterior, it’s equipped with chrome bumpers, 17-inch alloy wheels and EZ Lift with Lower Locking Tailgate. The tailgate is easy to lock, using the same key fob as the rest of the vehicle. You can also open and start your vehicle remotely.
The interior of the LT improves to include a 13.4-inch color touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. There is also available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection, which may be necessary if you use your vehicle for work outside of an office setting. The LT also includes Chevrolet Connected Access with 10 years of standard connectivity. This allows the driver to perform select vehicle diagnostics and receive dealer maintenance notifications.
LTZ
The LTZ starts at $56,600 for the two-wheel-drive crew cab with a standard box. There’s no regular cab option here. That price jump may seem like quite a bit, but it has several features that make your Silverado 2500HD safer and more enjoyable to drive. Externally, door handles, mirror caps, and body moldings are upgraded from body color to chrome.
The interior comes with a 110-volt AC power outlet, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated driver and front passenger seating. One of the biggest upgrades is the addition of leather upholstery. For convenience, there is a remote vehicle starter system, plus an integrated trailer brake controller and trailering equipment package.
High Country
The High Country is the top-tier trim for the 2024 Silverado 2500HD. It starts at $71,000, which gets you a two-wheel-drive crew cab and a standard box. Chevy’s given the High Country plenty of added convenience and comfort.
The High Country is a significant upgrade from the LTZ with 20-inch wheels, safety features like a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, a powerlift tailgate, a Bose audio system, and a rear seat alert.
Also standard is a spray-in bedliner, moveable cargo tie-downs, and an HD surround-view camera.
Conclusion
The 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD is an upgrade in towing power but lighter on features compared to the 1500. That may be your best option if you don’t need this much towing power. If you want a truck that packs an even bigger punch, you may want to consider the Silverado 3500HD.
