2024 Chevrolet Suburban: A Trim Comparison

by Car Digest
March 6, 2024

The newly refreshed Chevrolet Suburban is a great full-size SUV that returns for 2024. It may tow like a truck, but it definitely gives you the control of a sports utility vehicle. But once you’ve settled on the Suburban, you must choose a trim. This comparison guide will help you to narrow down your choices.

Choosing a Suburban Trim

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban offers a spacious interior and powerful performance no matter which option you choose, but each trim offers more features than the last with a price to match. Consider your budget and your family’s needs when deciding on a trim. Newly available is GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system.

Overall

Some things remain the same no matter which Suburban you ultimately choose. The fuel economy for the Suburban is 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, regardless of your trim. Another constant is the towing capacity of up to 6,300 pounds when properly equipped. Finally, all Suburbans are rear-wheel-drive unless you upgrade to all-wheel-drive. (This can affect your mileage, lowering it to 14 mpg city/21 mpg highway.)

LS

The LS is the cheapest trim you can choose when picking out a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban. It has a starting MSRP of $59,200. With this base trim, you’ll get 18-inch wheels, LED headlights,  a manual liftgate, a limited-slip rear differential, and a tow hitch receiver.

The LS  has room for eight to nine passengers thanks second and third-row bench seats. Tri-zone climate control provides a comfortable temperature throughout the cabin. This could be perfect for a large family. The interior also has a standard 8-inch color touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and six USB ports. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also standard, as well as satellite radio and HD radio. There are also two 120-volt household-style power outlets and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The cargo space allows for 41.5 cubic feet with the seats up and a maximum storage area of 144.7 cubic feet with the seats down.

The Suburban LS also has notable standard safety features to keep you and your family safe, including a rear-vision camera, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, and a Teen Driver monitoring system. There is also a remote vehicle starter system and keyless entry.

LT

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban LT increases the starting MSRP to $64,700 and comes with everything the LS has and more. It should be noted that the LT has less passenger space than the LS as it can only hold seven to eight total passengers—depending on whether you elect for second-row captain’s chairs.

The upgraded LT interior comes standard with leather-appointed seats. The front seats are also heated and optionally you can get the second row seats heated as well. Power-folding second and third-row seats are also offered. Drivers may also appreciate the panoramic sunroof, surround-view parking camera, and rear seat entertainment to entertain the kids on long car rides.

Audio enthusiasts will love the standard Bose premium nine-speaker sound system. The LT also upgrades the infotainment system to a 10.2-inch touchscreen while gaining a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless charging, and a hands-free power liftgate.

 RST

The 2024 Chevrolet Suburban RST starts at $67,300. This sportier trim offers black interior accents and black upholstery with red stitching. It comes with everything included in the LT version but comes with unique 22-inch wheels.

While many of the LT’s options are compatible with the RST, this variant offers additional features such as adaptive cruise control, a potent 430-horsepower V8 engine, dual exhausts, and a magnetic ride control suspension system.

7Z1

The  Suburban Z71 starts at just $69,300. It comes standard with four-wheel drive and several off-road performance enhancements. The Z71 features hill descent control, a front skid plate, front tow hooks, and 20-inch wheels, along with all-terrain tires.

Options such as an adaptive air suspension and an electronic limited-slip differential are offered, while most other features carry over from the RST model. This is the only trim, however, that doesn’t offer a diesel engine.

Premier

Starting at $72,600, the Premier model encompasses all features of the LT trim while incorporating several optional extras. These additions comprise a 10-speaker audio system, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, and a power-folding third row.  There are also 20-inch wheels, an adaptive suspension, and more driver assistance features such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Moreover, Premier models offer additional enhancements compared to lower trims, such as the option for Super Cruise, power-retractable side steps, a head-up display, and a rearview mirror with an integrated camera display. Further, there is the availability of a second-row bench seat (since Captain’s chairs are the default layout).

2022 Chevy Suburban

High Country

The final available trim is the 2024 Chevrolet Suburban High Country. This trim starts at $79,900. It comes with a 420-horsepower V8 engine and 22-inch wheels. As the highest-end trim, all of the features in the Premier trim are included here, as well as a surround-view parking camera system, rearview mirror camera system, and a head-up display.

Unique to this trim are the body-color mirrors and bronze grille accents.
