2024 GMC Yukon: A Trim Comparison

by Car Digest
March 2, 2024

Few vehicles can multitask like a GMC Yukon. These full-sized SUVs can seat up to eight passengers, tow up to 8,400 pounds, and provide luxury that competes with its cousin, the Cadillac Escalade.

Comparing Yukon Trims

If you’re in the market for a 2024 GMC Yukon, this trim comparison can help you choose which one is right for you. Keep in mind that all trims can be two- or four-wheel drive. For this guide, we’ll be discussing pricing on the 2WD models.

Yukon vs. Yukon XL

First things first. Buyers can choose between two different lengths on the GMC Yukon. If you’re familiar with Chevrolet models (another General Motors company), the brand uses two nameplates for its full-size body-on-frame SUVs: the Tahoe and the Suburban. GMC, however, uses a single nameplate for its related vehicles. The Yukon is similar to its Tahoe cousin, and the Yukon XL is comparable to the related Suburban.

The Yukon has been redesigned this year to offer more third-row legroom and an increase in cargo space – up to 30 cubic feet. There’s also a new AT4 trim available plus two V8 options. All Yukon models come equipped with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission.

SLE

The 2024 GMC Yukon SLE is the least expensive trim, but it has plenty to offer. It has a starting MSRP of $60,195 and features the strong exterior you’d expect from a Yukon. It’s equipped with a standard 5.3-liter EcoTEc3 V-8 engine that’s capable of 355-horsepower and 383 pound-foot of torque. Fuel economy is, predictably, on the low end with returns of up to 16 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

On the interior, the SLE features premium cloth seating with a 60/40 split second-row seat and a flat-folding split third-row bench. On this trim, the second- and third-row seat folding capability is a manual operation. However, the front-row seats are power-adjustable.

The SLE also comes with a 10.2-inch infotainment system in the center console where drivers can access their phones using Bluetooth connectivity. Six-speaker audio, HD radio, satellite radio and wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay are standard as well. You’ll even get a total of six USB ports and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Also standard is a 12-inch digital gauge cluster. A rear-vision camera and front and rear park assist come equipped, along with safety features like forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

Optional packages offered include a Max Trailering package ($465), and the GMC Pro Safety Plus package ($495) that adds rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist and blind spot monitoring.

SLT

Starting at $66,895, the 2024 GMC Yukon SLT builds on the SLE’s features by adding some luxurious touches to make it more enjoyable for both drivers and passengers. Drivers may first notice that the SLT is equipped with keyless open and start features. No more fumbling with your keys to open the door. It also comes standard with a hands-free programmable liftgate. To activate it, you simply place your foot beneath a sensor under the rear bumper on the driver’s side.

The Yukon SLT also offers leather-appointed seating, as well as heated and ventilated front seats and heated second-row seating. Power folding also comes standard on the third row. To make the SLT a little more luxurious, the interior features a heated steering wheel for colder days. A nine-speaker Bose audio system is standard as well.

This trim level also includes added safety features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and rear seat alert.

One optional package is the SLT Luxury package for $2,530, which adds heated and power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and power split-folding second- and third-row seats. It also included adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, and rear pedestrian detection. For $1,500, you can get a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

AT4

The AT4 has a starting price of $73,500. This trim is designed for those who love to roam the outdoors as it is the only model that comes with four-wheel-drive. To improve the experience, two-speed transfer case, skid plates, and hill descent control are included. For comfort and convenience, heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and power-folding third-row seats are included.

The AT4 offers the option for additional packages like a Technology package with surround-view parking camera and a heads-up display. A Premium Capability package adds a limited-slip differential and adaptive air suspension. Then there’s the Rear Media and Nav package, or the AT4 Premium Plus package that includes everything plus a panoramic sunroof for under $10k.

Also available for the first time in the AT4 trim is the available is the 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Denali

The 2024 GMC Yukon Denali challenges the Cadillac Escalade at a lower cost of $77,300. The first major difference found on the Denali trim is the upgraded engine. The standard larger 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 is capable of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

The Denali also features an upgraded interior composed of higher-quality materials, second-row bucket seats, a 14-speaker sound system, and a heads-up display. A surround-view parking camera and rear pedestrian alert are also standard.

The GMC Yukon offers numerous packages. The Advanced Technology package, for instance, offers Super Cruise, an autonomous driving system, as well as a rear-camera mirror, reverse collision warning, reverse automatic emergency braking and park assist. It also includes a more advanced security system. A Reserve package includes everything in the Advanced Technology package plus power-retractable assist steps and a panoramic sunroof.

Denali Ultimate

This is the mother of all Yukons. The 2024 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate includes all of the standard features in the regular Denali trim and plenty of extras, starting at $99,695 – or $100,750 for the version with a 6.2-liter V8 engine. The latter delivers a whopping 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Four-wheel drive is standard with this model, as are 22-inch wheels, an adaptive air suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential and power-retractable door steps.

On top of all that, you’ll get a panoramic sunroof, full-grain leather upholstery and 18-speaker Bose audio system. All driver assistance features come standard with the exception of Super Cruise which will cost you an extra $2,200.
