The rear seat bench could fit three passengers, though it’s intended for just two and accordingly has two seat belts.

The North American arm of Volkswagen recalled the German automaker’s 2025 ID.Buzz electric minivan because its rear seat, though wide enough to seat three passengers, has only two seat belts.
The recall affects nearly 6,000 units.
Though the vehicles’ owner’s manual specifies that the rear seat is equipped for just two passengers, the seat bench has enough space to accommodate three. Due to its width, safety regulations require that it have three seat belts.
Dealers will install trim parts to limit the seating surface width to regulatory width for just two passengers.
The affected ID-Buzzes, being 2025 models, are within the new-vehicle limited warranty period.
Volkswagen is scheduled to mail recall notices to owners on June 20, according to recall documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
