Hyundai recalled more than 225,000 SUVs and compact cars because their backup cameras may fail to work.
A manufacturing error may result in gradual failure of the backup camera printed circuit board in some of the recalled vehicles, reducing that visibility when in reverse, according to a notice on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
The recalled vehicles are the 2021 and 2022 Santa Fe, Santa Fe HEV, Elantra, Elantra HEV and the 2022 Elantra N and Santa Fe PHEV.
Hyundai dealers will replace the backup camera with an updated version that it introduced into its production in April 2022. The South Korean automaker is scheduled to mail recall notices to owners on Jan. 19.
