2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee: A Trim Comparison

by Car Digest
November 6, 2023

Jeep is a brand with a rich history and a longstanding reputation for rugged vehicles that are ready for just about anything you can throw at them. The tricky part is that many of its vehicles try to be everything to everyone. The Jeep Grand Cherokee remains one of Jeep’s most popular models – with good reason.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trims

The redesigned Grand Cherokee offers a staggering 9 different trims to choose from for the 2024 model year. That’s even before you add in things like powertrain and engine option choices. There is one important note for the 2024 Grand Cherokee models: a three-row version called the Grand Cherokee L is available as well. We’ve reviewed it separately.

In this guide, you’ll find each of the Jeep Grand Cherokee models compared with the major differences between each model.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Laredo

The Laredo is the base-model Jeep Grand Cherokee. A starting MSRP of $39,535 gets you a 3.6L V6 that has 290hp and gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway. The whole thing rolls on 18-inch silver aluminum wheels and a two-wheel-drive drivetrain. The base 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo offers a lot more in the way of features for this model year. It offers a Uconnect media system with an 8.4-inch display and satellite radio, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. Additionally, you’ll find a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, six-speaker audio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Keyless entry, push-button start, parking sensors and a backup camera come standard as well. As for comfort features, the base model comes equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.

The base model offers a ton of standard driver assistance features. Forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control are some of the advanced safety features included. There’s also lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring.

Even at the base level, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the best mid-size SUVs on the market. But if that’s not enough you can add on the Luxury Tech Group I package for $1,795.

Laredo X

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo X, starting at $40,285, features everything in the base trim plus a few extras. Those extras include a sunroof and upgraded 18-inch wheels.

Altitude

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude is a more significant step up from the previous trim model. This model starts at $44,140. The Grand Cherokee Altitude gains synthetic leather upholstery and all of the contents of the Luxury Tech Group I package (offered at an additional cost in the base trim). Those features include a power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, a 115-volt household-style power outlet, and remote vehicle start. Other luxurious features include a heated leather steering wheel and heated front seats, as well as wireless device charging.

Altitude X

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude X is virtually the same as the Altitude but also includes a sunroof.

Limited

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is a little bit of an odd duck, in our opinion. The two-wheel-drive Limited has a starting MSRP of $48,780. The major difference in our eyes between this trim and the Altitude is the addition of a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated rear seats and 18-inch wheels. On top of that, there’s an upgraded 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. Optional features include a dual-pane sunroof, nine-speaker stereo, front-passenger screen, and rear-seat entertainment system.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Otherwise, the Uconnect navigation is the same, as are the standard safety features. The heated steering wheel, front seats, and power liftgate all carry over as well. It seems Jeep could have just made the sunroof an add-on option instead of creating an entire trim level around it.

The optional Luxury Tech Group II package, for $2,775, adds a ton of features for your money. You’ll get features like an off-road camera,  a surround-view parking camera, front parking sensors,  park assist, and intersection assist.  Other upgrades include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a hands-free power liftgate, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Additional luxury touches include ventilated front seats and wireless device charging.

Overland

The 2024 Grand Cherokee Overland may sound like it’s ready to charge into battle, but this Jeep’s strength lies more in luxury. Buyers get a dual-pane sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, a hands-free power liftgate, and wireless Apple CarPlay. The Grand Cherokee Overland starts at $61,995. This model also offers 20-inch wheels and four-wheel drive.

Optional features include the rear-seat entertainment system and front passenger touch screen, or you can get a 19-speaker McIntosh premium sound system.

There are two optional packages for the Overland trim. The first, the Advanced ProTech Group III package for $2,715, gives you a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a head-up display, and off-road camera. Driver assistance features in this package include intersection assist, night-vision assist and a surround-view camera system. Then, the Luxury Tech Group IV package for $2,635 adds quad-zone automatic climate control, 12-way power-adjustable and massaging front seats with front passenger-seat memory settings, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and wireless device charging.

Summit

At $65,360, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit gains a number of features that are mere add-ons at other trim levels. This version comes with massaging front seats. With features like lane centering assist, intersection assist,  parallel and perpendicular park assist and traffic sign recognition, you might feel like this Jeep just about does half the driving for you.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

As for optional packages, the Advanced ProTech Group IV package for $2,715 is the best deal. It adds a heads-up display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and night-vision assist. The Luxury Tech Group V package for $755 gives you just second-row window shades and wireless device charging.

Summit Reserve

Lastly, the most expensive trim is the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve at $69,840. It comes with standard four-wheel-drive and 21-inch wheels. Additionally, it gains a limited-slip differential, terrain management system, and air suspension. Rear seats are ventilated in this model and the 19-speaker McIntosh stereo comes standard.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Don’t purchase the Summit Reserve and expect to get everything the Grand Cherokee has to offer, however. If you want the heads-up display and night vision assist feature, you’ll need the Advanced ProTech Group IV or the Luxury Tech Group packages.

4Xe Hybrid Trims

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in five different trims in its plug-in hybrid variation. These plug-in-hybrid 4xe trims include the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve. The Trailhawk is exclusive to the hybrid model.

Trailhawk

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is a little pricier at $67,055. Many of the creature comforts are stripped down compared to previous trims. But where you’re going, you don’t need them. The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is optimized for off-roading. As such, you can only purchase this trim with a 4×4 powertrain.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk also comes with the Quadra-Drive II 4WD system to bolster the Quadra-Trac II System. This system has an electronic rear limited-slip differential that transfers all available torque away from a slipping wheel for the greatest traction possible. The Trailhawk also includes a terrain management system, air suspension, skid plates, tow hooks, and a sway bar. If all that off-roading is making you sweat, however, you’ll appreciate the ventilated front seats.
