2023 Subaru Solterra: A Trim Comparison

by Car Digest
June 10, 2023

The all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra shines as Subaru’s first all-electric SUV. Offering a comfortable driving range and off-road capability, this electric vehicle proves itself as a competitive option on the market, albeit with a few issues.

2023 Subaru Solterra Trims

The Subaru Solterra comes in three different trim varieties, starting with the Premium as the base trim, followed by the Limited and Touring trims. All options boast two electric motors accompanied by a 72.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. All-wheel drive comes standard. Let’s take a look at each of the 2023 Subaru Solterra’s trim options in our comparison guide.

2023 Subaru Solterra

Premium

The 2023 Subaru Solterra Premium may not sound like the name of an entry-level trim, and that’s probably because it doesn’t act like one. Starting at $44,995, the Premium trim offers an impressive suite of standard features.

The base trim comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Listen to HD radio or connect your own music device via Bluetooth. Five USB ports are spread throughout the cabin as well. Meanwhile, automatic climate control keeps everyone cozy inside.

Heated front seats and heated mirrors improve driver comfort and visibility, respectively. There’s also a windshield wiper de-icer that’s another welcome addition for winter driving. On top of all that, the vehicle features a sleek 7-inch digital gauge cluster.

The Subaru Solterra Premium also comes with an array of standard safety features. Among the vehicle’s collection of features are emergency steering assist, lane departure warning and lane keeping assist. Other features include adaptive cruise control, intersection collision avoidance, and forward and reverse automatic emergency braking. Additionally, blind spot monitoring are there rearview camera to provide extra awareness of your surroundings.

Limited

The Limited trim starts at $48,495. This trim upgrades the 8-inch infotainment system in the base model to a 12.3-inch touch display. Rear seats are upgraded to heated ones and the steering wheel is heated too. Wireless device charging, navigation, and a premium Harmon Kardon stereo are added at this level.

Access your vehicle conveniently using a digital key and open your vehicle’s liftgate remotely. Further, you’ll get improved driver safety with a surround-view parking camera and fog lights. Most other features included with the Limited trim are cosmetic.

Most notably, the vehicle features synthetic leather upholstery and comes with roof rails. Dual liftgate spoilers in the back give the Solterra a sportier look. Finally, you’ll get larger 20-inch wheels.

Touring

2023 Subaru Solterra

The Touring is the final trim level starting at $51,995. It only offers a few additions but if you were hoping for a sunroof, this is the trim you have to buy. Ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and auto-dimming rearview mirrors are the only other notable additions.

Final Word

While the Solterra offers a fairly satisfying 215 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque, there are other electric cars on the market that perform much better. It also doesn’t offer much range over its competitors, only giving you up to 220 miles. However, this is in line with EVs like the Ioniq 5. But for running errands around town and getting to work, the Solterra is up to the task, giving you luxury and solid performance for the price. And unlike other EVs, its off-road performance impresses too.
