2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5: A Trim Comparison

by Car Digest
December 24, 2023

If you are looking for an affordable electric SUV that will give you the most value for your money, look no further than the Hyundai Ioniq 5. This powerful SUV may not look like much, but it packs a huge punch with a higher towing capacity compared to its competitors.

Comparing Hyundai Ioniq 5 Trims

The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered in four different trims. There’s the standard base model followed by three upgrade options pack with more horsepower and premium features. Find an Ioniq 5 model in your price range with the most features for your money.

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5

SE Standard Range

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE Standard Range has an MSRP of $41,650. It is available only in rear-wheel drive. It features a 125-kW electric motor that generates 168 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 58-kWh battery pack allows for a range of up to 220 miles. While the powertrain is fairly impressive, you can do much better with the next three trims – which we’ll get to in a bit.

As for features, you’ll get an impressive array of standard inclusions for your money, making it one of the best hybrid SUVs in terms of value. Seats are cloth upholstery, along with an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a six-way manually-adjustable front passenger seat. Both seats are heated.

At the front of the cabin, you’ll have access to a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth support. Navigation, HD radio, and satellite radio are all included as well. There’s even a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, which is a feature you often have to pay extra for in other vehicle models.

Keep everyone at a comfortable temperature with dual-zone automatic climate control while you listen to your favorite jams on a six-speaker surround sound system. Plug in multiple devices with five USB ports spread throughout the cabin. And for your convenience, there’s proximity keyless entry and a push-button start ignition.

Driver Assistance Features

In the way of driver assistance features, Hyundai doesn’t hold much back with the base model. You’ll get essential features like forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and a rearview camera. Next, you’ll have features like blind-spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, and driver attention monitoring.

Still, it’s important to remember that these features are only meant to assist you in terms of safe driving practices. Other features included are lane-keeping assist and lane-keeping assist, which always come in handy. Rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control are there for your convenience as well. Rear-seat alerts and vehicle exit warnings especially come in handy if you have unruly kids in the back.

SE

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE trim takes everything up a notch, starting at $45,700. The battery upgrades to a 77.4-kWh version, and the electric motor to a standard 168-kW that generates 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The biggest difference you’ll notice with this trim is the improved driving range of 303 miles. You can upgrade the powertrain with two electric motors along with all-wheel-drive. The upgrade will give you 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque. However, you’ll have to sacrifice efficiency, as you’ll reduce your driving range to 266 miles. You will, however, be able to tow up to 2,300 lbs! Nevertheless, it will cost you another $3,500.

As for features, everything is carried over from the base trim with no other additions.

SEL

If it’s premium features you want more of, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL is the trim for you.

To start off with, this model starts at $47,250 and includes the same standard battery and electric motor as the SE trim. But, once again, you can upgrade the powertrain for an additional $3,500.

Premium features added to this model are a heated steering wheel and ambient LED interior lighting. Other features include a hands-free power liftgate, front parking sensors, wireless device charging and a garage door opener. With Hyundai Digital Key, you can unlock and start your vehicle using your smartphone.

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5

Limited

For this trim, the powertrain of the SE carries over once more but ups the price to $53,350. Otherwise, you can opt for the all-wheel-drive version for $3,900.

The Limited trim upgrades the driver’s seat with memory settings and makes the passenger seat power-adjustable. The seats come upholstered with synthetic leather material. Ventilated front seats, rear sunshades, and a panoramic sunroof make the cabin a whole lot cozier. Other premium features are an eight-speaker Bose audio system, a heads-up display, and a center sliding console.

As for driver assistance features, you’ll get additions like a surround-view parking camera, a blind-spot camera monitor and park assist.
