2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L: A Trim Comparison

by Car Digest
November 12, 2023

Things are interesting for the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The larger, slightly stretched three-row model, dubbed the Jeep Grand Cherokee L has two new alternate trims for the 2024 model year.

A Bigger and Grander Cherokee

If you’re worried about things getting too big, this isn’t a huge behemoth like the Chevy Suburban. That role is reserved for the upcoming 2023 Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer. The Jeep Grand Cherokee L still fits in the mid-size SUV class, and it will be going up against competitors like the Toyota Highlander and (class-leader) Kia Telluride. The three-row SUV here only features two seats, not a full bench.

There is one confusing aspect about the 2024 Grand Cherokees this year. The larger L sports the redesigned fifth-generation (WL) styling. This is what all future Grand Cherokees will look like going forward.

Let’s get into the four trim levels of the new 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L.

Laredo

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Laredo has a starting MSRP of $43,330. It comes equipped with a 293-horsepower V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Standard features include the Quadra-Trac I active 4×4 system with Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functions will also be a featured offering. LED lights and 18-inch wheels with all-season tires are equipped standard with this trim. As for other safety features, you’ll get almost everything you need including blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and forward automatic emergency braking, among other features.

Inside, the center console has been redesigned with a more modern look. The Uconnect 5 infotainment system has an 8.4-inch touchscreen and comes with wireless Apple CarPlay support and Android Auto integration. There is also a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Uconnect screen offers a split-screen view of multiple seat locations.

Additionally, you’ll find a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, 12 USB ports, and tri-zone automatic climate control in the interior. The vehicle comes with keyless entry and push-button start. A six-speaker stereo is standard along with HD radio and satellite radio.

Meanwhile, the Laredo X, with larger wheels and a sunroof, starts at $43,830.

Altitude

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Altitude starts at $47,935 and includes more luxury features such as genuine leather upholstery, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Wheels are upgraded to larger 20-inch ones, plus there’s also a power liftgate and remote start. On top of this, you’ll get wireless device charging.

The Altitude X starts at $48,435.

Limited

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited starts at $52,575. It maintains the same Quadra-Trac I 4×4 system with the terrain selections and corresponding safety features of the Laredo trim. The main difference here is a more luxurious cabin atmosphere thanks to the addition of a power-adjustable front passenger seat and heated second-row seats. Not only that, but the heated front- and second-row seats  keep you toasty on cold weather days. The steering wheel is heated in case you forget your gloves (or for that added bit of warmth even when you do have them).

It should be noted that while this model offers upgraded LED fog lights, it reverts to 18-inch wheels.

Depending on your seating configuration, the Grand Cherokee L can seat up to seven people. The more common option is to have six seats that take advantage of the additional space (three rows of two seats, the two in the second row deemed “captain’s chairs”). However, a middle bench seat is also available that has seating for three people across. The third row is only a two-seat setup.

Upgrades to the Limited trim include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, navigation, and LED foglights.

Overland

There’s a pretty big jump from the Limited to the Overland trim, and the price corresponds to that. The Grand Cherokee L Overland starts at $65,790. The upgraded Quadra-Trac II Active 4×4 system contributes highly to the price increase. Furthermore, the trim offers the Jeep Selec-Terrain traction management system but also adds Quadra-Lift air suspension to the whole setup. The trim boasts an upgraded to a nine-speaker stereo and the wheels are the 20-inch.

Regarding the second-row seating, it remains heated but doesn’t have ventilation as the front row does. Looking above you, you’ll also notice a standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof to enjoy the open air when taking your Grand Cherokee L off the beaten path. Automated features include a hands-free power liftgate and automatic high beam headlights.

Summit

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit trim has a starting MSRP of $69,155 for the V6 with rear-wheel-drive. The four-wheel-drive model is available for an extra $2,000. This trim has the Selec-Terrain traction management system, Quadra-Lift air suspension, and hands-free parallel and perpendicular park assist. Also, for added safety, the system has a surround-view parking camera, driver drowsiness monitoring and road sign recognition. For full-on luxury, the driver’s seat is 16-way power-adjustable and even has memory and massage functions.

Other features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and quad-zone automatic climate control. Optional features include a state-of-the-art McIntosh audio system with 19 speakers, a 17-channel amplifier, and a 10-inch subwoofer. The whole thing delivers up to 950 watts of power. On top of this, there’s a forward-facing night vision camera and a heads-up display.

Summit Reserve

Finally, at the literal summit of the price points, is the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve, which starts at $73,635. For an additional cost, you can opt for the V8 model with 357 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. The trim includes a second passenger-side 10.25-inch touch screen, the 19-speaker audio system, and ventilated second-row seats. And it sits on 21-inch wheels.

If you don’t need all the passenger space that the Grand Cherokee L has to offer, there’s always the regular mid-size Jeep Grand Cherokee.
